Immigration Regulations
The student must obtain a valid student visa from a Canadian Consulate prior to coming to Canada. An international student will not be able to apply for a student authorization from the point of entry into Canada.
Employment
In general, international students cannot work in Canada. However, there are a few provisions that can allow them to work. First, they can secure a work permit for employment at the institution they are attending. Second, after graduation students are allowed to work in Canada for one year in the discipline they have studied.
Customs Regulations
The Canadian government places no restrictions on a reasonable quantity of clothing, books, and other items for personal use. However, only limited amounts of commodities are allowed into Canada. Student authorizations
Anyone wishing to study in Canada must have a valid Student Authorization unless they are studying for less than 3 months (12 weeks) in a English or French as a Second Language program. Contact your nearest Canadian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate to request forms for your Student Authorization.
